Worship. It’s something we as believers do on the daily, without even realizing it. It’s something we’re commanded to do by God, but often forget to do daily. It’s something we were born to do, but how often do we actually do it? How often do we live our lives in worship?
Most people think, worship is singing. But that’s not ALL it is.
It’s a lifestyle.
It’s spending time in Scripture often and in a constant conversation with the Lord.
It’s sharing the Gospel with people you encounter on a daily basis.
It’s loving your friends and family well.
It’s showing up for people when they need you.
It’s living a joy-filled life. Not just a “happy” life, but a true, genuine, joy-filled life.
And so much more!
As we were preparing for our Christmas Experience at my Church I caught myself just learning the songs and not really relishing in what they’re saying. Our worship Pastor recently told us at a rehearsal, “This Christmas Together is probably one of my favorites because it’s not a show, it’s a true worship experience.”
As I started thinking through the songs we’re doing I realized how right he was and how truly worshipful this night is going to be! And that’s when it hit me, the Lord started showing me the words to the songs and I started to truly think about them. They aren’t just words. They’re phrases glorifying and worshiping the Savior I know and love!
I’ve been struggling with my voice lately and I asked my family to pray for that. My Mom reminded me with this last night,
“This is a good opportunity to see God do the work! Keeps us trusting. Keeps us praying!”
“….a good opportunity to see GOD do the work!”
How many times have you let go, and let God do the work? How many times have you worshiped through trusting? Our God is a GOOD God, He’s not going to step back from what He’s already promised you. Worship through that trust.
Christmas is a season where we get to freely do that! WORSHIP! We should be doing this ALL the time, yes, but this is one reason I absolutely love the Christmas season. We’re celebrating the birth of our Savior!
One of the songs we did for our Christmas Worship experience is called “Nothing Else”.
I’m caught up in your presence
I just want to sit here at your feet
I’m caught up in this holy moment
I never want to leave
Oh I’m not here for blessings
Jesus You don’t owe me anything
More than anything that You can do
I just want you
Nothing else Nothing else
Nothing else will do, I just want you.
How many times have we sat at the feet of Jesus and just said, “I just want You.”
I know for me it’s been awhile, and usually it’s when something in my life is not going the way I want it to or Jesus is taking me through something hard.
My challenge to you this Christmas, sit at the feet of Jesus and just worship. Whether that be through just sitting there in the silence after the kids are in bed or maybe it’s through a worship song playing while you’re getting ready in the morning. Whatever that looks like for you, take the time to truly worship our Lord this Christmas season.
