What is fun to you?

Is it chilling in a hammock with a good book on a cool sunny day?
Is it hiking up a mountain?
Is it “netflix & chill”?
Is it playing a pickup game of football or soccer with some friends?
Is it sitting at a piano plucking at the keys?
Is it watching your favorite sports team (at home on TV or live)?
Is it knitting a scarf?

What is fun to YOU?

I recently read a devotional by Annie F. Downs called “Chasing the Fun”. I’m still reading through it actually but as I was reading, one of the questions started to make me think. She says this, “If it is fun to you, it is fun. 
Think about that, “If it is fun TO YOU, IT IS FUN.”

So often I think something is fun. Something that I like, that I enjoy. But then I start getting into my head. The narration goes something like this….
I wonder what other people would think of this? Are people going to think I’m weird because I think this is fun? Do I look like I’m having fun doing this? Is this ok to do? Am I breaking any rules by doing this fun thing? Am I going to acquire more friends because I think this is fun or are people going to think I’m weird/crazy and abandon me as a friend? 
Real thoughts. Those are real thoughts that go through my head when I’m often doing something that’s fun to me. 

Annie goes on in the chapter to say this, “I wonder who told you that we all need to approve o your life before you get to live it? Because your question isn’t whether you will get fun right or wrong; I think your deeper question is whether you will be loved no matter what. And yes, yes you will”
Who told you? The only one that needs to approve of your life is the Savior that’s wanting you to have as much fun as possible. Glorifying His name the whole time. Nobody else’s opinion matters. Nobody else gets to tell you what fun is or isn’t. Everybody has their own definition, live out yours to the fullest. He’s going to love you no matter what. Your friends may think you’re weird from time to time, but they’re still going to love you through your weirdness!

I’m the type of person that gets into my head very quickly and very deeply. I worry about what people think of me WAY too much. I realize that and it’s something I’m working on, but for whatever reason, the words Annie F. Downs wrote hit me hard and I fully believe it’s conviction from the Lord to go out and HAVE FUN. MY version of fun.

What DOES sound fun to me?
Baking for other people. Game nights at my house with friends and family. Themed food nights with friends. Hanging out with my family. Taking a road trip to a new city and exploring. Watching a Hallmark movie. Reading a book. Sitting around a campfire with friends and a guitar and some s’mores on a brisk cold night worshiping under the stars. THAT will fill my heart up REAL fast.
